Madrid´s Architecture

Madrid is famous for its ability to combine the most avant-garde with the most traditional. Between the typical red brick of the “Plaza Mayor” and the glass of the famous “Cuatro Torres”, the Spanish capital is home to an architectural range as rich as its history. In some cases, we find modern constructions from the 1960s that coexist with historic buildings that have been expanded with avant-garde annexes. In others, contemporary restorations have injected new life into disused sites.

Madrid is one of the European capitals with the greatest variety of projects and architectural works, a complex urban structure that allows us to discover the history of the city from its origins to the present day. For any architect, Madrid is a great example of the coexistence of different architectural styles, as well as an example of innovation and experimentation in architecture that allows the city to be the 'laboratory' of modern and contemporary architecture in Spain.
