Madrid's Food

Madrid's cuisine has been influenced by its geographical location and its history, which has resulted in dishes inspired by traditional Castilian cuisine and others that bring together the best of other cultures. The rich gastronomy of Madrid is one of the strong points of the tourist attraction, with delicious stews, roasts, tapas, fruits and vegetables from the garden, along with excellent quality raw materials, excellent wines and traditional good work. One of the most typical dishes is the “cocido madrileño”, the undisputed king during the cold winters that plague the capital.

Nowadays Madrid has centenary restaurants where traditional food is still served as in the old tascas and fondas. In fact, near the Plaza Mayor is the oldest restaurant in the world, Casa Botín, founded in 1725. ButMadrid adds 22 Michelin-starred restaurants in the 2022 edition: DiverXo, Smoked Room, Deessa, DSTaGe are some of them.
