The Man behind Le Corbusier; Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris

Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris, better known as Le Corbusier (1887-1965), an important architect, urban planner, as well as a painter and sculptor, and one of those responsible for laying the foundations of the Modern Movement - or also called the International Style - in the architecture has inspired our projects at Bonder Home.

“Our eyes are made to see forms in light; light and shade reveal these forms; cubes, cones, spheres, cylinders or pyramids are the great primary forms which light reveals to advantage; the image of these is distinct and tangible within us without ambiguity. It is for this reason that these are beautiful forms, the most beautiful forms”.

The Applique de Marseille which #LeCorbusier Le designed for his #Paris apartment at Rue Nungesser et Coli. This #Walllamp has double emission, in aluminum painted matt grey, matt white, or black, with white internal diffusers has been one of our newest additions to our latest Ibiza projects in the exclusive gated community of #CanFurnet. The way it flows the light from top to down yet created independent projections was ideal for a several-story staircase.

In 1921 Le Corbusier published an article in which he presented a totally new concept of housing. To keep in accordance with its time, the house had to be a "machine for living" and be homologated to the rest of the goods that make up the technological society. With this, he did not defend aesthetics or the machinist spirit, but rather tried to make a house as functionally efficient as machines were in the tasks for which they had been invented.
