Our Aspen series is made using the lost wax technique. As with the manufacture of batik in textiles, the pattern is applied to the unglazed porcelain with the help of a stamp and wax, after which the piece is immersed in a reactive glaze. This, in turn, is fired at a very high temperature, causing the wax to melt away, revealing the pattern, and giving the glaze a certain thickness. As the name suggests, the beautiful lines resemble ski tracks in the snow, amid an ice blue colour palette.
